Chapter Two: Dropping The Bomb

Arizona and Callie

"Dr. Robbins, I Have no idea what to ask. I.. I have no idea what you'd want me to do.."- confused Avery as he tries to calm Arizona down. I just came here to let you know that Dr. Torres is looking for you and.. And I just came here to... Dr. Robbins, please.. Tell me what I can do to help." Avery looks at Arizona with tears in her blue eyes running down her cheeks.

He stepped forward near the crying blonde and tries to console her. Arizona spoke to her father earlier and Col. Robbins indeed told his daughter about the conversation Callie, Bailey and Christina had in the cafeteria. Arizona is in disbelief that her wife, Callie, the woman she had loved for years wants to divorce her. She could not figure out what went wrong and what her shortcomings were that made her wife want to cut the relationship.

" I have no idea Avery.." as she wipes her eyes in tears.

"Have no idea about what?.. Dr. Robbins.. I know I am asking too much but I don't know what to tell you unless you tell me what's going on. I am not Alex who could read your mind and remain not to ask... And I know I was a terrible boyfriend to April, not to mention a disgusting surgeon and a crap intern who sucks but.. I am here to listen.. I... I..".. 

Arizona looks up with a smile on her face, laughing at what Avery had told her. Avery confused of Arizona switching gears. And as he looks at Arizona, it creates a smile on his face, looking at the pretty dimpled woman who's known for being an uptight attending and now is smiling and laughing.

Avery burst into laughter as they both realize how stupid they looked.

"I may not know what's going on Dr. Robbins but I want you to know that I am genuine. I may not understand the thought of you and Karev getting along but I think I get it... I get it." - Avery

"Kind of understanding the thought of me getting men's DNA is I guess, a fact. I just don't understand as to why my wife would want to divorce me..".. Arizona suddenly switched gears again looking from afar and thinking about what she discovered.

Avery got himself confused from what he just heard from Arizona. 

"Divorce what? I'm sorry what?" looks at Arizona.

Out of nowhere Callie calls out on Arizona.

"There you are! I was looking everywhere for you!" Callie walks in and gives a warm hug to her wife. Kissing her in her right cheek as Arizona bows her head. "I am sorry to cut this conversation short but Daddy Robbins and your adorable  nephew are waiting.. Dinner right?" - Callie.

Avery looks at Arizona trying to figure out what's going on and he understand from her body language and her face that this is something that Callie knows. That Callie doesn't know that her wife is in terrible pain learning the idea of divorce.

"Yeah, I just told Dr. Robbins that you were looking for her and found her here.." Avery still looking puzzled.

"I think we gotta go." - Callie

"No. No. We can't go!.. Daddy said he feels really tired and Tom needs to take a rest.." - Arizona forcing herself to smile.

Callie looks at her wife and thinking Daniel might have told her what he heard in the cafeteria.

"Can you give us a minute Dr. Avery,  I just need to talk to my wife alone." - Callie

"No. He can't leave..he..he was actually waiting for me to run back down because this..this parent wouldn't agree to her son's operation.. You know, it her last hope. Her last shot.." looking at Avery.

"Yes, uhm... I was..." Avery grasping for words to say.

"No, he's not waiting for something. Did you talk to your Dad?" - Callie grows suspicious

"No. What? Talk about what?" - Arizona trying to be dismissive. 

"Dr. Robbins, we need to go. I don't think that cranky patient would want to wait any longer.".. Avery trying to save Arizona from the situation she's in.

"I'll see you at home. You take care." - Arizona

"I'll wait." - Callie

"No, that's okay. I'll see you at home. Sofia needs to take some rest too." as she kisses Callie in her cheek.

Callie is convinced that Arizona knows her idea of wanting to divorce and grows anxious about it.

Late night/ Calzona Apartment
Callie/Arizona/Avery/Alex
==============================

Avery and Alex carrying Arizona as they enter the apartment. Arms of Arizona on Alex and Avery's shoulders. Callie in shock as she looks at her wife wasted and drunk.

"W- what happened? Are you guyz nuts? You got my wife drunk!".. - Callie

"She insisted on.." - Alex

"..on coming home..she insisted on coming home but we wanted to celebrate with Dr. Robbins because of the kid's operation being successful" - Avery reasoning out.

"..w-what ope..-" - Alex confused as this never occurred. It was Arizona who insisted to grab some drink and it obviously went further than a grab.

Dr. Alex Karev and Dr. Jackson Avery

"And you guyz did celebrate and you didn't think tomorrow is a big day." - Callie

"It's always a big day in the hospital." - Alex

"Don't start with me Karev.." - Callie "..Okay, you guyz should go, I can take it from here." - Callie as she tries to prepare blankets

"No! My boyfriends are going nowhere.." - Arizona blurts and trying to keep herself awake but obviously she's too drunk. " You two should stay. "- Arizona

"Arizona, they can't stay here, they have jobs. They need rest, Dr. Avery and Dr. Karev, thank you but you guyz can leave, I can take care of this." - Callie

As Avery and Alex head to the door.

"No one is going out of that door.".. Arizona squeezing her head as she tries to get up. Avery and Alex stop before they even reach the doorstep.

"Arizona, let's go. They need to rest, you need to rest. Don't turn this into a "Boys Night Out".. Don't be silly.." - Callie point out.

"I'm silly? I AM SILLY HUH?!" - Arizona suddenly gets up with an angry voice, ready for a huge debate of the night. "You don't call me that, you don't get to call me that.." - Arizona with a raging voice.

"No--we're staying. Who says we're going anywhere?" - Avery trying to stop a possible fight between the two attending. 

"Guyz, I'm sorry.. I--" - Callie trying to explain.

"You heard her. Your wife wants us to stay and we're not going anywhere." - Alex with a sarcastic face.

Grace Hospital
Bailey/ Callie/Meredith
======================

"So what do we have for your birthday?".. - Bailey

"I'm not having any.." - Callie

"What? It's your birthday, you can't NOT celebrate. Everyone celebrates their birthdays!" - Meredith

"Not today. Not for me." - Callie looking from afar. "I think she knows. I think her father told her. I mean..that's her father. Oh God Bailey, I'm going crazy." - Callie sighs.

Arizona walks pass through them, took a binder folder without looking at Callie.

Super Magic Smile

"BIG DAY IT IS!" - Arizona

Smiling with her bright eyes and cute dimples. Arizona left immediately after getting the folder she needed. Which left Meredith wondering.

"Is everything okay between you two?.. If you don't mind me asking.." - Meredith

"I mind you asking. I do. " - Callie

Callie and Meredith are not really close as she is a lot closer to Cristina.

"What do I do?" - Callie

"You go talk to her. Who knows what she knows and why she's like that, right? You can't assume just like that without having to talk to her. Oh come on, she's your wife. " - Bailey

"She came home drunk last night. Had a night with Karev and Avery and God knows the reason why she had to get herself drunk right?.. I mean I'm a terrible wife. I don't know why I said that but..just hours of us not being okay and hours of her not talking to me makes me really miss her terribly. I haven't had any hugs or kisses or smile from her since she woke up this morning." - Callie looking sad

"Torres, you just gotta talk to Arizona, you can't solve anything if you refuse  to talk about it." - Bailey

"What am I supposed to say Bailey? I said it, her father heard it. Like I'm a psycho wife who complains and whines about facing this thing with Arizona that's going for months and I just dropped the bomb!" - like the typical Callie tactless tone she always had.

"What bomb?" - Meredith

"No asking, Grey you go check some lab results and get your post it husband go to Trauma 2.." - Bailey

"But there's no.." - Meredith

"Yes there is!" - Bailey commanding Meredith to leave.

"I don't know what's going on, I don't know why you said it, I don't know what's running in your head right now Torres, but I sure know that you love your wife. I've seen that and I sure know she's seen that. Now, you can't just wait for her to open it up, no one wants the D word and you know that.." - Bailey

"Arizona tends to become really this intellectual argumentative scientist and she has all these answers to every single question that I throw and I'd end up losing an argument because she knows when she's right. I mean, Bailey, come on! You know her, she will always put up an absolutely great damn fight for everything. And when she knows her reasons, she knows what she wants, she will never lose any single argument. She's that damn great at it! - Callie

"Whoa... Who says you need to argue?" - Bailey

"Let's get real. Of course  we will end up fighting. Ofcourse we might end up screaming at each other. We've done it before, even in the middle of an airport for Pete's sake! Believe me." - Callie

"I'm not saying I don't believe you, okay? Well if you have to fight then so be it. It's sometimes the only way to get your thoughts come across. Every couple does that Torres so this is not something to unusual. This is a big thing. It's not like you- wanting to have sex and Robbins wouldn't. Talk about it." - Bailey

Miranda Bailey

" She will never let her guards down. What she wants, she gets. When I didn't want to have a child, she was more okay of us breaking up, I mean, the blonde is a stubborn goddess and.."- Callie

"She did."- Bailey

"what do you mean she did?"- Callie

"She did let her guards down. You wanted a baby and she didn't. But she ended up saying yes to it. You had sex with Mark and made a baby, she was hurt but she accepted Sofia as her own. I've known that woman as much as you did. She's stubborn, but she'll try to trim everything to make things fit. She'll try to learn everything even if it's not something she needs. She will want something for you because you want it. She will need something that she doesn't need because you're obsessed with it."- Bailey

Callie realizing all these create tears in her eyes

"..you can not expect Arizona not to lash, not to get angry or be emotionless at this point. You wanted her out of your life and.."- Bailey

"I don't want her out of my life Bailey! I can't and I won't!. Just this thought of her wanting the things that I want makes me anxious! That she might want to divorce me too because I said I wanted to.. I can't have her go away, Bailey, I can't! I love my wife and you know that! Oh god! What have I done?"- as Callie breaks into tears.

"You haven't lost her yet, Torres. There's still time." - Bailey

Alex Karev and Arizona Robbins

"So, what are you going to do about it?" - Avery

"Cut this one off. I will need suction. It might take this kid 2-3 weeks before she gets to walk again but it's all good. She will be amazing. And that makes you a good doctor because you are wanting to learn, aint that right Dr. Karev?".. - Arizona

"well, that makes you wanting not to talk about what we are trying to talk about." - Alex

"So this is not about this kid huh?.." Realizing, they are talking about Callie. " okay, so you both want to talk about this now? Right at this point where I am operating on a child who, might not be able to walk again.."- Arizona reaching a boiling point.

"I'm so.."- Avery

"No! You are not.. You obvi... GET THE HELL OUT OF MY OR!"- Arizona screams at Avery. She did not finish her sentence because she was too upset at Avery.

"Dr. Avery just wanted to.." - Alex

"AND YOU TOO..GET OUT! I don't want anyone getting more concerned with my personal life and talking about my crumbling marriage! I need mature doctors in here! Not some spoiled rich kid and a bad boy proud doctor who are more eager in wanting to know the next chapter of my life! I am not a drama show!- Arizona screams. "Now, get the hell out of my OR." - Arizona

The two doctors headed to the door and went out.

Callie/Daniel Robbins
Lobby

Colonel Daniel Robbins and Barbara Robbins

"Col. Robbins.." - Callie said softly

..." I told her. My daughter and I do not keep secrets." - Daniel

"Look, Col. Robbins, I love your daughter and whatever I said, I..."- Callie trying to explain and in the verge of crying.

"When I heard that she was a lesbian, I got worried. I was worried that she might end up being alone. She might end up taking care of kids and healing all these children that go to her, then goes home alone and lonely.. I know she's a strong woman.." - Daniel

"..she is.. She really is. And I admire that about her."- Callie smiling and re-discovering the woman she loved and she loves.

"..but she's my daughter, she's my only daughter. She's a strong woman, I raised her that way. But like any other woman, she's fragile. She could cry just by seeing a cat from a tree that couldn't go down.." - Daniel smiles as she recalls the young Arizona.

.."ofcourse I accepted her. It wasn't a shock for me. I've always known that she was. Because one thing about my daughter is, she knows what she wants. And if she doesn't and she has to, she will find a way to want something. I trust her and I know, as soon as you divorce her, she might not like it but.."- Daniel

"No, I don't want to di.."- Callie

"She has always been fascinated with women. And I gotta tell you, she has a great taste. She has standards with women. She had a quite a few serious relationships but I never saw my daughter as happy as she was when she talked about you." - Daniel saying as she looks at Callie. 

Callie on the other hand was in tears and wiping every tears that fell from her eyes.

"She called me. She said "Dad! I'm in big trouble. And I panicked, I got up from my bed and I was ready to get my gun and keys and fly here in Seattle. And she suddenly says.. "there's this woman, who I've been dating for months.." - Daniel sighs and smiles

.." and immediately, I knew. I was happy that someone is making my daughter happy. She was always like that when she falls in love with someone. She feels she's in trouble because she goes around with women. She had more girlfriends than her brother Tim or her bestfriend Nick. She's a hardcore lady-love, I'd say."- Daniel

"Col. Robbins, please let me explain, I.." - Callie

"When she went to Malawi, she called me everyday. Not a day passed that she didn't cry. Telling me she wanted to go back to Seattle. Carter Madison was always her dream. She was crazy about it. And there she was my daughter, crying and wanting to fly back to Seattle after seven months. And she did... She talked about you like there was sunshine all over her own sky. She talked about how sweet you are and how loving you were to her. So when she said she proposed to you, I was 100% behind her." - Daniel started to become teary eyed.

"I love your daughter and whatever I said just came out of my mouth because there's too much on my plate..and.."- Callie

"..she talks about how beautiful you are and how you make her happy.._ - Daniel

As they kept on interrupting each other.

"..and the stress is over above my head. And I love her. I love her to death! I can't imagine my life without her, I can't!" - Callie

"..and she kept telling me she loves you. Until yesterday.. You said you wanted to divorce her." - Daniel painfully upset.

Daniel walks away, leaving Callie crying and runs and went inside the On Call room.

Calzona Apartment
Callie/Arizona

Arizona and Callie good 'ol days

Arizona walks behind Callie's and wraps her arms around her waist, kissing her cheek and left shoulder. Callie in return tightens the arms embraced around her and kisses Arizona.

" I love you. I do." as she turns Callie around and brushes her hair through. Callie holds Arizona's hand and kisses it and she knew, they were going to talk about it. Tears run down Callie's face as Arizona wipes it.

.."and it's been a tough year. It's been rough so to speak. I find you amazing and beautiful and you.. You take my breathe away." - Arizona trying to smile. "..and.. And... You..." - Arizona

"Arizona, I love you. I love you and whatever I said there, was so sudden and it just came out because you know that I was going through a tough time. Please.." - as Callie cries and embraces her wife. "You know that I didn't mean it. You know it didn't make sense wanting to have divorce when you know that I'm crazy about you. Arizona, please..." - Callie tries to explain and Arizona looking at her with no emotions in her face. 

.."Please say something..anything..get mad. I know you're upset. You want to throw something at my face? Scream at me. Honey, come on. Please.."- Callie holding Arizona's face.

"I guess I'm too upset for me to scream. I'm trying to figure out what to say. And I don't know what to say. Because I don't know what went wrong.." - Arizona still emotionless

"We are good, there's nothing wrong and.." - Callie

"Then why this divorce? You wouldn't think of doing something as painful as divorcing me if there wasn't anything wrong. And you told Bailey about it, Yang and my father! Callie, I have no idea what to tell you. Help me understand." - Arizona starting to become emotional. "..because Callie, I tried everything I could to survive this." - Arizona breaks from Callie's arms.

".. I don't know, you came into my  life like a big bang theory, or like a New Years eve with fireworks everywhere. And you made my life so happy and I couldn't get myself enough of you because you were this woman that I liked and I wanted the moment I heard about you. Like how the  nurses would say things about you that made me so curious of knowing you. And seeing you at the bar was probably the most important thing in the world for me more than the weddings and dates and... It was the time that we crossed each other's world!" - Arizona

".. You think I don't know how hard it is for you to take care of two people, a baby and a doctor who can't do anything to take care of herself? I do! I do! And believe me it's a horror for me! You think I don't know that it was hard for you to lose Mark? Ofcourse I did! Did it ever occur to you that having to lose a limb is like losing yourself from a place you used to know and comfortable with? I tried Callie, I helped myself from that stage and didn't want to tell you what I was going through because I know how things were for you.." - Arizona in painful tears.

As Arizona becomes emotional, she goes back and forth and getting her things and places in her suitcase. Callie watches her and grows anxious.

"W-what are you doing? You're leaving?.. You can't leave.. Arizona, let's talk about this." - Callie trying to stop Arizona.

".. I.. I can't stay..  I don't know what's left to work out on.." - Arizona as she holds her wife's face in tears. " I am so torn apart and I feel so betrayed and.. I can't even look at you right now.".. - Arizona heading to the door.

"It's my birthday, Arizona.".. -Callie running after Arizona. Hugging her at her back. "Please..not tonight..atleast not tonight.. I love you and I am so sorry. It's absurd and it's silly but I didn't mean what I said. Just tell me everything and anything.. Just..just stay.. Please." - Callie

"Don't..stop.. Stop begging. Do not beg someone to stay, they will stay if they want to stay. I will stay, not because I  have to or I want to. I will, because I need to. I need to because I want to know for myself what I want to happen. Just give me enough space. Because right now, I am holding this.."- Arizona shows Callie a document. A divorce paper. 

Callie in shock.

"No, I'm going to tear that down. You will not do that, do you understand me?- Callie

" You can tear it up, I can have another one. This is just a paper, but the thought will always be there. I need  to stay. I need to know..."- 

Arizona walks away and heads to the bedroom. As Callie stand up, Arizona went out of the room carrying a pillow and a blanket. She heads to the couch to sleep.
